FOR INTERNATIONAL OR NON-NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKING STUDENTS

International students can apply for direct admission to the MBA program. To do so, complete the application steps above and submit the additional requirement of an IELTS score of at least 7.0 across all bands or a TOEFL score of at least 100, with balanced subscores. Please see the international applicants page for further details and requirements.

If you do not have a language score at this level, you can apply for conditional admission to the MBA program in cooperation with the ESLI Pre-Masters Program at TWU or the TLC Post-Graduate Studies program in Richmond. To do this, complete the application steps below. This application process will provide students with a conditional admission to the MBA program, preceded by necessary English language training and the opportunity to complete outstanding application requirements for the program.

1.     Application: Complete the ESLI application or TLC application.

2.     Fee: Include a non-refundable international application fee of $150.

3.     References: Request two letters of reference. One reference should be academic and one must be from a manager or supervisor in your organization familiar with your character, work performance, and leadership potential. It not available, two academic references are acceptable.

4.     Admissions Statement: All students must submit a personal admissions statement of 500-800 words.  This statement should describe your academic and personal goals, key experiences leading to your desire for academic advancement, and reasons for pursuing this program at Trinity Western University.

5.     Transcripts: Send an official copy of your post-secondary transcript from all institutions you have attended. The MBA program requires a GPA of at least 3.0 based on the final two years of your undergraduate program.

6.     English Requirements: A TOEFL score of at least 100 or an IELTS score of at least 7.0 across all bands is required for direct admission consideration. However, applicants who would like to enrol in Pre-Masters ESL Program or TLC Post-Graduate Studies coursework prior to entering the MBA program may receive conditional admission to the MBA program, without submitting a TOEFL or IELTS score. In this case, English language proficiency will be assessed upon arrival at TWU and students will be placed into the appropriate ESL class, whether in ESLi’s Pre-Masters Program or TLC’s Post-Graduate Studies option.

7.     Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) Optional: The GMAT is not required for admission. TWU reserves the right to request it for the few applicants who may have a lower academic background or insufficient quantitative or business studies background.

8.     Entrance Interview: Some applicants will be selected to complete an interview (which may occur by telephone conference call or Skype interview via the internet). The interview will evaluate an applicant's level of maturity, interpersonal skills, career focus, and motivation. This may be deferred until successful completion of the ESL Pre-Masters program or TLC Post-Graduate Studies program and GMAT exam.

9.     Resume/CV: Work experience is not required for this program, though past work or volunteer experience can strengthen your application.

• Become a leader. The Asper MBA program has two intakes: January and early August. We’re looking for applicants with:

Program Specific Requirements

In addition to the general admission requirements for the Faculty of Graduate Studies programs, the following minimum requirements also apply:

·       Four-year degree or three-year degree plus five additional full-course equivalents (10 half-courses at the second-year level or higher; a minimum of six courses must be at the third or fourth-year level, and not already used for any degree considered for admission into this program),

·       GMAT with recommended a score of 500, or a GRE General Exam with recommended combined score of 1000 (prior to August 2011) or a GRE revised General Test combined score of 300 (after August 2011) or successful completion of the Business Skills Development Program offered by the Faculty of Business Administration. All 6 Business Skills Development Program modules must be completed with a minimum average of 70% (no more than two modules may have a grade less than 70% but must be above 60%),

·       statement of academic intent of 750-1000 words, to outline the nature of the academic and work history, the academic and career goals, and the strengths and weaknesses of the applicant,

·       Curriculum Vitae.

Preference will be given to applicants with more than two years of general work experience.

Applicants with experience greater than 5 years at a middle or upper-level managerial position, or professional designations such as CA, CMA, CGA, CFA, CHRP, AND CFP and other recognized designation will be looked on favourably and may be considered in cases of less than required undergraduate average or GMAT/GRE score.

Graduates of the Lakehead University Faculty of Business Administration with an excellent, the academic record will be considered for a waiver of the GMAT/GRE requirement.
